New Year Style Resolutions 2013

New Year Style Resolutions…2013

Every single year most of us girlies decide that we WILL really and I mean really stick to our ridiculous resolutions that most of us cannot even manage to do for the full month of January and just end-up feeling a tad deflated and disappointed with ourselves. Not a good way to feel…

That’s why we have decided to forget about the gym sessions, not eating desert, writing a book and all that nonsense and simply stick to something a bit more stylish…something that we can actually, maybe stick too? Resolutions that actually make perfect sense, will save us money, make us feel better and work for us all no-matter where we are on the style stakes. We want you to start this new year a bit more stylish, which means you will have to become savvier and if you do you will get the most wonderful wardrobe perfect just for you!

1. Be assertive, look sharp and believe in thy self!

If you are shy and not very forthcoming then just act the part, and soon it will become you, it will be you. Just imagine what the year could bring if you do this one resolution, you could be anything that you want to be or at least on the road towards it. This is an on-going process that will just keep developing and it is so exciting!

 2. Stop falling for fads, know thy self and know one’s own sense of style.

Yup, we have all been the victim of impulse buying or just buying something because we think we are getting a good deal.  Don’t fall for the trap of clever marketing, just ask yourself “do i need this, would I want it if it wasn’t half price?” Probably not….period.

Now that you are assertive, sharp and know your own style…

3. Be a savvy shopper, don’t fall for the big fat sales, and instead buy quality and less quantity.

Like we just mentioned (No.2) don’t fall for the 50% OFF, only buy what you actually need or really really love! Focus this year on buying quality items rather than throw-away fashion. Yes, its cheap but that is just what it is and you will never love it or respect it like your quality purchases. Just think of all the items sat in your ironing basket for maybe over a year…probably the cheap impulse purchases. Add them all up and you could probably afford something really special like a handbag that you would use every day, or a gorgeous well-made dress that you will have in your wardrobe for years to come and will love and cherish.

4. Enjoy a wardrobe that works for you.

Do this by getting rid of all the pieces (that really aren’t and probably never will be “heirloom”), thus making room for the new you (you know the assertive, sharp and savvy one!) Don’t hold on to items that you haven’t worn in a long time, double check whether you will wear them again by simply trying them on, see how they fit, see how you feel in them. If it isn’t fabulous, then say good-bye! Less is more, remember quality over quantity.

5. Look good, feel great.

Spread the love and be kind (but not a push-over) and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013

With Love and best wishes for this new year coming!

Christmas Day Outfit 1.

With only 20 days left and counting until Christmas day we thought it would be a good idea to put together a Christmas day outfit post. This will be the first of a few to come and we thought we would start off with a more cosy and comfortable choice of Christmas day clothing.

First on the wishlist is our new black crew neck festive cat jumper that comes in one size and fits size small or 8-10.  We love this cute and cosy little knit and think its the perfect choice for Christmas day comfort!

Price: £14.99

Charity Fashion Show

We are hosting our first charity fashion event next week (Friday 30th November 2012) in aid of Cancer Research UK. On the night we have live performances from a local band known as the SST Band, an exclusive performance from vocal artist Deanne Parker (who sounds like Erykah Badu), an Arabic Dancer – Joanne Town as well as our catwalk show. We will be doing a raffle just before the DJ starts his spin and we have managed to collect a great range of prizes including items from LoveLila.

There will be a small buffet on the night and we will  also be selling cupcakes to help raise that extra bit more for Cancer Research UK.

For those who are after some gorgeous affordable fashion we will be selling some LoveLila pieces at a discounted price with some of the profits going to Cancer Research UK.

Entry is £1 on the door and the event is open to everyone including children (accompanied by an adult).

The event will be hosted by radio presenter Steff Todd and she will also be doing a small presentation about Cancer Research UK and why we are helping this charity.

If your a budding photographer and/or blogger get in touch as we need you!

Please email info@lovelila.co.uk for all enquiries.

Outfit Post: Luxe Fur Collar Coat

“What can I say, it was love at first sight. If you love glam at an affordable price then you simply must have this coat.”

- thefashmcqueen.com

We always love a good outfit post and believe it’s inspiring to see how our customers style-up their purchases from LoveLila. Recently, self-confessed fashion addict, mother of two and yes a blogger (how does she do it!) bought our stunning limited edition Luxe Fur Collar Coat and then tweeted us her outfit post and review.

We love the way in which she pulls off this coat with her own individual style. It looks much more rock-chic and uber cool, giving off relaxed yet confident air of laid-back glamour. Now that’s what we call style!

Bringing some Style into Stockport!

So a new month has brought a lot of changes for our team. We have recently re-located our business HQ into the historical Town of Stockport. We are just settling in and have been working super hard to get everything sorted out and organised.

During our well deserved lunch breaks we have been snooping around our new area and have actually found Stockport to be a Town full of many nooks and crannies with unique little independent shops off cobbled streets selling wares such as antique lighting (and yes I have been tempted to buy various Venician chandeliars which I have no-where to put) and real charity shops with charity shop prices (my guilty pleasure). This week I purchased the most gorgeous vintage Escada blouse for a mere £12! I will do an outfit post with this soon as I think it will look super stylish with the LoveLila skinny jeans or the navy cigarette high-waist pants.

So getting back to LoveLila – the place where you can always find ‘Luxe for Less’ without any real effort. We are really happy that we have moved into Stockport and excited about all the new changes and expansion that are taking place right now and into next year.

We are hoping to bring some real style into Stockport and to help put it back on the map. Some of you may already be aware that we are hosting our first charity fashion event this month and we are holding it in Stockport. So if you are local to the area get in touch and we will give you some details. A post about the event will go up over the next few days anyway.

With love,

Silver Website Award at 6 months!

We are 6 months old and we have won our very first award!

Our website LoveLila.co.uk was considered by three professionals within the online industry that marked our site based on the criteria provided to them by Mumpreneur UK.

Mumpreneur UK is the UK’s leading support network for mums in business, offering advice, resources, articles and events to parents who run their own business.

Mumpreneur UK, informed us that there were many entries but not all of them met the criteria for an award this time. However, we are pleased to proudly announce that LoveLila has won a Silver Website Award just after 6 months in business!

We are extremely pleased with this and are now aiming for a Gold Website Award next year (in-between juggling with childcare!)

For all you other ‘mums in business’, don’t give up on your dreams, keep working hard and be a mumpreneur!

With Love,

LoveLila xxx

Liverpool Fashion Week: Friday Night

For the fourth year running Liverpool has been putting on its very own fashion week, a seven-day event with the promise of glamour, cameras and action. For the first time I actually attended this year and I was very excited to check it out especially with all the hype on Twitter! So Friday night I drove to the city which I love (after Manchester and London of course!) with fellow fashionista Jessica.

Here in Manchester we have are very own fashion week and of course a city with an array of shops, department stores and boutiques , not to mention our markets and of course the infamous Arndale centre and Trafford centre for late night shoppers. I think it is quite safe to say that Manchester is the second biggest and best city outside of London as we can boast whilst fine dining in Harvey Nics restaurant about our latest purchases from top international luxury brands right down to unique one-offs from a sweet little boutique in the Northern Quarter. When it comes to fashion we do kind of have it all on our door-step. So what about other Northern cities such as Liverpool how do they fair in the style stakes?

We all know of the boutique Cricket, probably one of Liverpools most famous shopping haunts for those who can afford luxury brands. But where else can one shop? Mmm…now this is where I kind of got lost. Heading down to Liverpool One I must say on arrival I was rather disappointed. It was a nice and contemporary shopping mall, but there wasn’t anything new or different to find, just the same old high street retailers that you can find anywhere and everywhere. Surely, there must be hidden gems within this city where I know from experience come the weekend everyone is looking super-glam no matter what age! If you are on Twitter it is probably one of the best places to find out about independent boutiques this is where I heard of Miss Francesca Couture and Lola Loves to name a few.

Anyway getting back to Liverpool Fashion Week, the event was much smaller than I had anticipated but in a way that was good as it has a more intimate feel about it. I arrived as Littlewoods were mid-way through their collection but I must admit I was pretty impressed. I never really considered Littlewoods as a fashion favourite but after seeing the on-trend pieces and in particular a gorgeous lace jewel embellished black fishtail maxi evening dress, I was in love – with the dress that is.

Other high-street retailers such as New Look also showcased their collections and key trends included, black velvet leggings, leather look pants,  printed t-shirts, owls, chunky knitwear, black lace, winter shorts and jacket sets that were very chanel-esq with hints of sparkle within the woollen fibres. The overall feel for this Autumn/Winter 2012 was a an elective mix of dolly-bird glamour with the winter shorts and box jackets and swinging skater dresses with a more statement gothic glam look created with studded embellishments on black lace, velvet or leather and surprisingly a display of 70’s come Downton Abbey look!

Take a peek (and apologies for the amateur photography!)
